Our Team

Jay was born in Tampa, FL, but grew up in Fort Lauderdale. He moved to Texas in 1996. He accepted Christ at the age of 17 at youth camp with FBC Fort Lauderdale. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (1995) from Union College in Barbourville, KY where he was a two-year letterman playing football. He received his master’s in Christian Education (1998) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies (2020) from Dallas Baptist University. He served as the Associate Pastor of Students and Recreation at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth for 22 years before coming to Shady Oaks Baptist in June of 2020. Jay and his wife, Nikki have three beautiful children, Christa, Catie, and Toby.
